Gov. Kasich Proposes 5% Sales Tax on Lawyers, other Professionals
Governor Kasich’s biennial Ohio budget proposes reducing the state income tax by up to 50% while imposing–for the first time–a five percent sales tax on lawyers, accountants, lobbyists and other professionals. The Ohio State Bar Association, which ordinarily stays above the political fray, recently came out against the proposal in its official policy statement. The Columbus Bar Association has not yet announced a formal position but we hope it will soon join the chorus of opposition.
