Mark Kafantaris:

A lawyer’s lawyer

Mark’s passion for the law began at an early age while working at the family law office next door to his childhood home. He fondly recalls sorting through case files, answering the phones, and watching jury trials while growing up, which ignited his lifelong fascination with the law.

At age 12, Mark was hooked. He knew he wanted to become a trial lawyer. Mark took classes year round at The Ohio State University in an effort to shave a year off his undergraduate degree. He did the same while at Capital University Law School and managed to finish in a record two-and-a-half years after successfully petitioning the school to change its three-year residency requirement. He received his Juris Doctor with high honors.

A freshly licensed attorney at the ripe age of 23, Mark left his job at the Columbus Prosecutor’s Office, and hung his shingle. With nearly 20 years of dedicated legal experience in criminal defense, bankruptcy, and personal injury cases, Mark has litigated cases at nearly every level in Ohio. He has also handled appeals to the Tenth District and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals as well as several petitions for writs of certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Having received Martindate-Hubbell’s highest “preeminent” rating by his peers, Mark has built a reputation for being grounded, practical, and deeply committed to his clients. His practice is rooted in core values of honesty, affordability, transparency, respect, authenticity, and relatability. Mark’s favorite part of his work is standing up for the “little guy,” whether it’s against big insurance companies, large corporations, or powerful governmental entities.

He believes in the importance of clear and honest communication, taking the time to explain legal nuances without talking down to clients. When he’s not advocating for his clients, Mark enjoys spending time with his sons, George and Oliver. He’s also an avid runner and likes tinkering with old cars and things in need of fixing around the house.
